Iuliu Hațieganu is the oldest medical education institution in Transylvania and is classified as an advanced research and education university, the highest Romanian classification, what does that status mean in practice?

Only 12 Romanian universities hold this top classification. This thread explains what the advanced research and education classification covers, how it affects funding, research infrastructure, and faculty quality, and whether it genuinely distinguishes Iuliu Hațieganu from other Romanian medical schools.

i did a lot of research before choosing between cluj and a couple of other romanian medical schools and this classification kept coming up. being one of only 12 universities in the entire country with the advanced research and education status is not a small thing. what i wanted to understand is whether it actually changes anything on the ground for students or if it is just a label that looks good on the university website
